Invited postdoctoral researcher to work broadly in the area of human-AI interaction, alignment, and trustworthy AI.

Responsibilities: Successful candidates will conduct research and scholarship focused on novel approaches to AI, will co-mentor graduate and undergraduate students, and will co-author proposals for extra-mural funded projects.

What: One- or two-year postdocs with flexible start dates in 2024 (earlier is preferable), working with Hal Daumé within the broader context of CLIP, HCIL, TRAILS, and VCAI.

Where: The postdoc will be located at the University of Maryland, a top public research university located just outside of Washington, D.C., in College Park, Maryland.

When: For full consideration, all application materials should be submitted by May 31, 2024 (including letters), but will be considered on a rolling basis through then.

Compensation: The expected salary range is $75k-$80k per year, plus competitive benefits.

Qualifications: Candidates must have fulfilled your Ph.D. degree requirements, possibly excluding the final submission of their dissertation, prior to joining. Applicants are expected to have at least two accepted conference or journal publications related to AI in high profile venues. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated research in human-AI interaction, with a research agenda that overlaps with current research projects, and with evidence of the ability to collaborate productively in an interdisciplinary environment.
