The New York Lehigh University’s Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) is seeking to hire a postdoctoral in computing for sustainability. The postdoc is expected to contribute to a foundational model for sustainability including resilience to natural disasters and reducing sea-level rise uncertainty.

Backgrounds and perspectives: Computer vision, signal processing, machine learning, artificial intelligence, remote sensing, science-informed machine learning and computing for sustainability and climate change, or a closely related area are encouraged to apply.

To build the Lehigh of the future, the Advancing Future Faculty Diversity Postdoctoral Scholars Program seeks applications from outstanding scholars with diverse backgrounds and perspectives who plan to pursue a career in the professoriate.

Following a successful postdoctoral experience, each scholar may be considered for an assistant professor position in the relevant department at Lehigh.

Expected timeline:

  • March 1, 2024 Applications due, including Letters of  Recommendation.
  • March-May 2024: On campus interviews (up to 2 days, with prospective faculty mentors, department chair, director, dean, faculty collaborators  and Executive Committee).
  • June 2024: Letters announcing decision, including offers of selection, sent to finalists.
  • Two weeks after letters sent to finalists: Signed acceptance from postdoctoral scholars due.
  • Summer 2024: Newly appointed postdocs should anticipate some onboarding prior to physically reporting to campus for start date.
  • July 2024-October 2024: Start date, as agreed.   Flexibility is possible in the start date between 1 July 2024 and 30 October 2024, though it is ideal to start early in the academic calendar for fall professional development and mentoring.
